Common causes of Hip injuries and Pain in Athletes

The hip is a joint where the thigh meets the pelvis. Hip pain includes any kind of pain or uneasiness in your inner or outer hip areas. There are so many ways of describing hip pain such as tender, a dull pain, dreadfully sharp pain, or feeling of burning and tingling. Hip pain can develop gradually over a certain period of time or can occur suddenly. Hip pain can be felt when the body makes some movements such as squatting, lunging or turning. Hip pain can occur in new born, kids or adults. Hip pain is familiar with the seniors because it can be an indication of osteoarthritis of a hip or a hip fracture.

Slight muscle tension or bone fracture injuries can lead to hip pain. Muscle strain injuries are the most common injuries of the hip in athletes. Muscles around the hip are very prone to injuries for the reason that they are focus to eccentric contractions. Eccentric contractions lead to muscle strain because they cause great forces in the muscle. Strains include groin pull and hamstring strains.
When an athlete suffers a direct blow to the ileum, one of the large bones of the pelvis, it will result to a hip injury. When a bruise is sustained over the external part of the hip, this kind of injury is known as a hip pointer.

Long distance runners especially women, suffers from stress fractures. These kinds of injuries are usually experienced by athletes who have undersupplied nourishment or ingestion disorders. Hockey players suffer mostly from sports hernias, a problem that is brought about by an inequity of the well-built muscles of the thigh and the comparatively weaker muscles of the stomach.

The labrum is a cuff of thick tissue that encloses the hip socket. When a labral tears, some small pieces of the tissue can drop in the joint causing much pain and infectious sensations.
